Summer Happenings

Grandma and Grandpa Pitcher came to visit us. We attended the Castle Valley Pagent and a parade. Our lucky children were able to attend 3 town parades this summer. We're definitley stashed with potty treats for a while. Us at the pagent. I was humming along to the songs of the program and Adam turned to me and said, " You know this song?" Well only because it's exactly the same every year. Except I'm more apt to crying and getting teary now that I've got children.Adam has been keeping busy with yard and house projects. He says that he just wants to get them off the list but I say as soon as he finishes one project he adds two more. So what's the hurry? Kaylee and Spencer love to help. Kaylee and her friend made cardboard cars. It was so cute to see them walk around the block in them. You all might be sick of hearing about my running but I'll post for my record. I ran my first 10k in Huntington and took first place. I couldn't believe it when I started out as the first girl and wondered if I was taking it too fast and wouldn't have enough for the end. I learned a lot from that race and very glad I attempted a 10k.
The picture above was a 5k race in Helper this past weekend. As I crossed the swinging bridge I saw my parent, brother and sisters, Adam and my kids. They surprised me by coming to watch and for the rest of the race I was emotional and extremely grateful. Thanks MOM and DAD for supporting me.
My goal was to get under 24.00 mins and wha-whoo! My time was 23.23. I never would have thought I could do so well. That's 3 minutes faster than my original goal at the begining of the summer.

Family Reunion

We had a reunion in Blanding this weekend. This is Kaylee looking for money in the saw dust. She would only pick up one at a time. It was funny because Adam couldn't just watch, he had to help. She has since been carrying her cup of money around and counting it over and over. We had her pay tithing for the first time and she wasn't very thrilled about that but we helped her buy a necklace with some of it.
Adam loved the scenery. He even almost ran into a buck with his four-wheeler. The kids loved to camp. They woke up in a super silly mood.
Yah! Spencer has gone potty for a whole week. He is 18 months and mommy is thrilled. Despite all the negative comments I've gotten about potty training boys early we have finally succeeded. So we took the potty camping. It was pretty cute.
Me playing a Minute to Win It game called bottoms up. There was a yo-yo tied to the back of my pants and had to knock off 4 pop bottles in 60 seconds.
We stopped at Wilson's Arch. I think that people thought we were crazy to take the kids but they really liked it.

Lewiston Pictures

For the fourth we celebrated in Lewiston. Here are a few pictures.
Love this smile!
Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Pitcher for the fun time.

First Place

This past weekend I discovered something new about myself. I realized that I have never been first at anything. Well yes, sterling scholar.....nope....I was runner-up. I have experienced the sense of accomplishment that comes from being first at something. I ran a 4th of July 5k and placed #1 in my age division 20-29. It's amazing the extra power and motivation you feel when you've succeeded. It's funny because I was just going to be done with races after this one but when I finished I commited to trying a 10k in 2 weeks. WHAT? I've never even considered it....ever! I guess I was caught up in my moment of glory. I want everyone to know that the power of your mind, believing in yourself, and being confident is more powerful than all the work you put into things. You can be 1st too!

Cute Pictures

Kaylee kinda let me take pictures of her. Of course it was under her terms. My favorite was when she insisted on holding the handrail.
Spencer wanted his picturet too. Aren't his hands so cute? I ran my first 5k of the year last week. My goal has been to beat my record last year of 26.00 minutes. Adam has been really good at pushing me and coming to the track to time 400's. He told me that he would give me something BIG if I could get under 25.00 minutes. I was so nervous because we timed a practice 5k the week before and got 26.35 and I felt like I was going to die. I ran this race in 24.18 and was completely suprised because I felt like I could have pushed myself more. When I told Adam my final time he thought I was lying. My something BIG was 2 full body massages. What a sweet husband? Thanks for supporting me Adam!

Our first Camping Trip

We were brave and took the kids on our first real camping trip....in a tent. Adam has wanted to see some of the sites in this part of Utah but he was very very surprised when I mentioned the word camping. It was pretty spur of the moment and very windy so Adam was extra nervous. The only thing we forgot to pack in the car was our clothes and toiletries. So it really was camping and thank goodness the weather was perfect for the clothes we had on our backs.
Little Wild Horse Canyon pictures Adam loves this type of scenery.
Kaylee was so cute because she would dance and sing "I did it, I did it, I climbed up the really big hill, I did it" (Dora) It was funny every time.
These are Goblin Valley pictures.
They're so cute!

Mostly about my handsome Husband!

An update with Adam: He picked up a part time job working with the Census. Doesn't he look offical. He does this work after he puts in a 10-11 hour day at his real job. This wasn't the schedule we thought he'd have when he took the Census job because he was only working 8 hour days and as soon as we accepted the Census job his hours were bumped to 10 hours.
So needless to say the is gone from 6:30-8:00 every night. The children miss him more and Kaylee has started to cry when he leaves. Adam is cute to come home before they go to bed so they can play for a few minutes.
The Census job will end in a few weeks but we are all REALLY ready to have him home again. And Adam is very ready to have some free time.
Look what I whipped up yesterday! I'm really really proud of myself. They are cute bags/diaper bags that we finally found a pattern for. Once I got started I couldn't stop. Perhaps I should sell them.
Check out Spencer's smirk. This picture makes me laugh. He just woke up from a nap and lately he likes me hold him so I can tickle his arm and face. It's so cute! I think every mom has a carseat picture with the kids. Here is Spencer's after a long day in the sun. We stayed at a Hotel for the first time in a while. Kaylee warmed up to the pool just as we were leaving and they both loved the waterfall except it doesn't look like it in the picture.
When we go to NANA's house Kaylee gets silly. She is looking through the window and pulling her funny face. She also loves to help Spencer.
Kaylee and Spencer both loved having cousin Hadley come visit. Spencer just wanted to touch her and Kaylee just wanted to hold her.
Hurray! Kaylee has learned to say "Cheese" most of the time.
